Does Your Phone Really Need a Tempered Glass Screen Protector?

You’ve bought a new smartphone. For a moment you marvel at how wonderful your device is, with all the features and apps you could possibly need.  Once you get over just how awesome your new phone is, something else pops into your head; protection. It’s important to make sure it stays in the best possible condition.

You may or may not have heard of ‘tempered glass’ screen protectors but here’s some basic info you need to know about them, what they can do for your phone, and whether or not it’s worth it to buy one.

screenTempered glass screen protectors are made by heating the glass and then cooling it very quickly. This type of glass breaks differently than normal glass, creating more rounded edges of glass pieces instead of the jagged shards that regular glass creates. A tempered glass protector is a multi-layered screen protector. It has a bottom layer of absorbent silicon, PET film and an optically clear adhesive tempered glass and oleophobic coating in that order.

Tempered glass is more heat resistant than regular glass, so your phone is less likely to be damaged by heat. Unlike tempered glass protectors, plastic screen protectors are much more likely to get scratched.

Tempered glass protectors are up to five times thicker than standard plastic protectors. The smoothness and clarity of the tempered glass makes the screen protector feel more like your actual smartphone screen than a plastic screen cover would. Generally, tempered glass screen protectors are easier to insert on your phone than plastic screen protectors.

YES! It is certainly worth getting one, especially if you’ve had the problem of a cracked phone screen and want to prevent it from recurring. We guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
